Humanize AI offers the highest per-request word limit on a free plan. However, the output quality is inconsistent — sometimes excellent, sometimes awkward. Good for getting a quick draft humanized, but budget time for manual editing.

Free tier: 150 words per request, 1 request per day
Undetectable AI's "free" tier is extremely limited. 150 words is barely a paragraph. The daily limit of 1 request makes it impractical for real academic work. The paid version is excellent, but the free tier is more of a demo than a usable tool.

QuillBot's humanizer is included with the free QuillBot plan. It's decent for short passages but struggles with longer academic text. The 250-word limit means you'll need multiple passes for a single essay section.
